Is the substrate MASONRY? (Brick, Mortar joints, Concrete, Stone, Precast, Stucco/EIFS)

Do NOT use product on plastic, metal and wood, as it will not adhere to these surfaces.

Perform a Water Absorbency test

Please spray water on the surface and ensure it absorbs. If the water is trickling down, you have one of the following issues:

  •  A water-repellent sealer
  • An existing painted surface might have been applied

Whet if the existing surface has been previously painted?

If there's existing paint on the surface. use the SOL-SILICATE product you can directly apply it over the painted surface. Refer to the instructions provided with the SOL-SILICATE product for further details.

Use a moisture meter to assess the moisture of each wall

If the moisture meter reads over 6 % please STOP as this surface will have problematic areas in the future. If the moisture meter is under 6 % please PROCEED. Meter will show areas of concern. Once Masonry Stain absorbs into a surface, it needs the moisture level to beat or below 6% once it cures and integrates into the bock structure. Any brick with mold/mildew should be power/soft washed. Any acidic masonry, should be brought to a minimum pH of 7.5-8%

Primer is KEY! Please do NOT skip this step

Please start the project by applying the ECO-PRIM. You can Spray, roll or brush. Let it cure between 12-24 hours. Our primer will prevent streaks, uneven absorption and help the stain increase Its strength over time

Masonry Stain Application

Apply the first coat of masonry stain. If you feel the stein is too thick, you can dilute it up to 10 % of the bucket volume. For example, if the bucket is 15 L or 4 Gallons, use 10 % (meaning 1.5 L or 0.4 Gallons) of ECO-PRIM to dilute. DO NOT ADD OR DILUTE WITH WATER!!! When applying a second coat, please ensure not to dilute stain, when applying darker colors.
