How to Stain Brick

We’re thrilled to feature a guest post by Lee Wallender, a seasoned expert in home improvement. Dive into this informative piece to explore the myriad benefits of brick staining for homeowners! Lee shares valuable insights on the transformative power of brick staining, aesthetic enhancements, durability improvements, and maintenance advantages that brick staining offers.

Additional Insights from our team at Mineral Stains:

  • A stain mixed with water will not be as strong as a potassium silicate stain, which is the strongest stain out there, proven with over 150 years of track records.
  • Our Sol-Silicate can, in fact, be applied to previously painted brick or masonry. The silica binds to a latex or acrylic wall like a gorilla glue and latches on. Please see our Technical Data Sheet – Learn more about our product here.
  • Silicate Stains are not only semi-transparent or translucent, known as Lasur, but we also have finishes in an opaque “solid” finish, to disguise imperfections that clients want to hide with a solid stain.
  • Silicate Stains can be applied not only to Brick but Stone, Precast, Stucco, EIFS, Cement Fiber “Hardie” boards, and even Drywall.

Thank you to Lee Wallender with The Spruce for writing this article and helping spread the word of Brick Staining. The mission and end goal are to use Eco-Friendly and Proper Coatings that will not chip-peel and hurt the brick or any masonry by painting over and over. Stains can last a lifetime.
