Using Masonry Stains can help you save money, make your brick stand out, and attract more clients, increasing the value of your property. The standard latex acrylic paints are of yesterday—if you have masonry, use the right product that will preserve your surfaces and save you money in the long run! On this individual project, we created custom colors to our clients specification, Canyon Clay and Dakota Wheat, to achieve the colors the owner of this McDonald’s location requested. Masonry Stains were used as the product on this page.
One of our clients, whose client is a franchise owner of a McDonald’s in Wisconsin, made the smart decision to choose a breathable, UV-protected, and alkaline masonry stain. This stain not only prevents mildew and algae but also protects the integrity of the brick, unlike traditional latex, acrylic, or elastomeric paints, which tend to chip, fade, peel, and blister. Regular paint requires ongoing applications every few years, which can lead to long-term damage to the masonry. By opting for a superior stain, the franchise owner avoided these common issues, ensuring the building looks fresh and vibrant for years to come.
Benefits of Using Masonry Stain:
- Breathability: Allows moisture to escape from the masonry, preventing trapped moisture that can lead to mold or structural damage.
- UV Protection: Resists fading from the sun, keeping the building’s exterior looking sharp and vibrant for longer.
- Alkaline Resistance: Helps to prevent the growth of mildew and algae, keeping the masonry clean and free of unsightly stains.
- Durability: Unlike paint, which can chip, peel, or blister, masonry stain penetrates the surface, offering long-lasting protection without flaking off.
- Low Maintenance: Reduces the need for frequent repainting, saving time and money on maintenance costs. Preserves Masonry:*
- Protects the integrity of brick or stone without sealing it off, allowing it to naturally breathe and maintain its strength.
- Aesthetic Appeal: Enhances the natural beauty of brick or masonry, providing a clean, professional look that stands out and increases property value.
By using our products, it promotes a maintenance free product, subject to any water damage, or excess moisture, as Potassium Silicate products soak into the masonry cavity, once they start to apply, the coating will being to crystallize, once fully cured, will become a permanent part of the actual masonry substrate. A key difference of our Masonry Stains vs. Traditional Paints, a paint will form a plastic film over the masonry, rather than soak into the surface, reducing water vapor transmission. This will lead to chipping, peeling and over time also color fading, as Organic coatings are not UV protected.
